Drawing on feedback from more than 5,000 students, parents, adult learners and members of the public, The Price Transparency Imperative finds that confusion about financial aid and opaque pricing breeds mistrust. More than three in five Strada respondents point to cost transparency, multiyear financial aid, price guarantees, and simplified all-in pricing as solutions that will restore faith in higher education affordability. In essence, rebuilding public confidence in higher education requires meaningful reforms to how institutions model, package and present costs.   A bigger barrier to college enrollment and persistence — and public confidence in the sector — are ambiguous and uneven student outcomes. Simply put, it isn’t clear to students and families which programs add value and which don’t. That’s why Carnegie and our partner, the American Council on Education, are focused on catalyzing more institutions nationwide to become engines of American economic mobility — what we call Opportunity Colleges and Universities (OCUs).   This month, we are releasing two new Opportunity College and University profiles — one on Santa Fe College and another on California State University, Stanislaus (Stan State). At first glance, these institutions look quite different: Santa Fe is a two-year college in Gainesville, Florida, and Stan State is the only four-year public university in central California’s San Joaquin County.   Both stand out for delivering extraordinary outcomes to the students and communities they serve. Santa Fe transfers more students to the University of Florida than any other institution in the state, and offers tuition-free education with 100% job placement to unemployed and underemployed residents of Alachua County. At Stan State, industry partners tell President Britt Rios-Ellis that while graduates from elite institutions may not often stay in the Central Valley, Stan State graduates do. They become the teachers, healthcare providers and social workers who serve the region that raised them. Santa Fe, Stan State and the other 475+ current OCUs across the country are powerful proof that America's colleges and universities can broaden access and deliver student success, at scale. I hope you will read these profiles and discover what happens when colleges and universities make student success their first priority.     In partnership, Timothy Knowles President, Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching FEATURED PROFILE Santa Fe College: An Institution That Keeps Asking Who It Has Not Yet Reached Read and share  → FEATURED PROFILE California State University, Stanislaus: The Power of Cariño Meets the Pulse of Possibility Read and share  → Agile or Fragile…Are Universities Stuck in the Year 2000?
